According to a MEPCO official, on Wednesday, separate operations were launched throughout South Punjab, resulting in the apprehension of 98 power pilferers. Accompanied by task forces, MEPCO teams conducted raids in various areas, including Multan, Vehari, Sahiwal, Rahimyar Khan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Khanewal, and DG Khan, where they uncovered a total theft of 245,550 electricity units.
The detected thefts included tampering with meters, direct supply, installation of meter loops, slowing down meters, meter dead stops, and meter screen washing. As a result, fines totaling over Rs 5.2 million were imposed, and cases were registered against one individual for their involvement in meter tampering.
